Some Mad Plaid

Every time I think, "There is no way I could possibly do another post on a denim jumper with a plaid skirt," Forever 21 designs something else, and I know it's my duty to bring it to all of you.



I should know better by now. It's like how, in cartoons, you never say "Well, at least it can't get any worse." That's like asking for it to spontaneously rain right over your head. Much in the same way, I really shouldn't tempt fate with my declarations about plaid and denim jumpers.



Do there really need to be three tiers of ruffles? Do two not provide the necessary volume to make this completely unflattering? Because I can't imagine that the skirt portion would be more unflattering with fewer tiers. If it were just a skirt, devoid of tiers (I know, crazy talk, but go with me on it), I think it would just look kind of homemade and innocuous.

Look at it on this poor model. It's giving her a bustle. Isn't the point of having a model that she should be bustle-less? That a dress should be flattering, rather than hideous?



Oh, and it comes in black, too. Because sometimes, your blue jean denim just isn't formal enough.

Rompers, from what I can tell, are supposed to recall the innocence of youth while maintaining a whimsical nature that only a fashion-savvy adult can bring.



With this, you can definitely recall the innocence of youth. It looks like it has a built in diaper that needs changing.

The thing is, that could be totally changed with one simple fix: bring the crotch up. I mean, really, there is no one with a torso that freakishly long. The crotch is going to hang somewhere around the lower thigh area. There's no reason to have the crotch sit that low. Maybe if you're going to use the extra space for storage, but if that's the case, seriously, just buy a fanny pack already. Don't encourage the low-crotch trend.

Denim Dresses Are Not Okay

If you like planning your Halloween costume months in advance, I have one for you:

Bitchy popular girl from any 90s teen movie. Combine with thick platform Mary Janes, full hair, and a posse of slightly insecure, slightly less pretty cheerleaders.

If that's not your style, you can always go for this:

Throw some paint on this dress, add a flannel shirt and some glasses, pull your hair up in a bun, and go as the nerdy girl just waiting for Freddie Prinze Jr. to notice the beautiful woman within.
